Cecilia Eleri Smiga - Soprano
Born in Wrexham. She studied at the Flanders Operastudio in Belgium, at the
Zürich International Opera Studio, and the RNCM in Manchester.
Opera roles include: Carlotta in Phantom of the Opera in the West End;
Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte for Flanders Opera in Gent and Antwerp;
Tosca and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni and Mimi -La Boheme for Daylight
Opera Dublin and Rosina Barber of Seville in Provence.
Cecilia has performed in many oratorios in Britain & Switzerland, which
include Haydn's Nelson Mass with the Manchester Camerata; Handel's Messiah;
Mozart's Requiem and Verdi's Requiem in Canterbury Cathedral in the presence
of Archbishop Rowan Williams.
Concerts include soloist at the Opera House in Antwerp and Amsterdam;
Zürich Opera House Gala Concerts; Promenade Concerts at the Bridgewater
Hall, Manchester; a recital for the Lord Mayor of Dublin; Soloist at The
Lord Mayor of Cork's Annual Concerts; Recently, Cecilia appeared in St
David's Hall, Cardiff, in a gala concert in aid of NSPCC Wales.
Cecilia was a finalist in the Competizione dell Opera International Singing
Competition in Dresden; Finalist in The Welsh Singer of the Year Competition
in St David's Hall; the winner of the Towyn Roberts Young Singers Scholarship
at the National Eisteddfod of Wales; Winner of the London and Manchester
Welsh Singer of the Year prize.
Cecilia is in great demand as a Musical Director, Adjudicator, Vocal and
Performing Arts Coach, and her pupils have won major singing and Musical
Theatre Competitions throughout Wales.
