Huw Geraint Dunley - Tenor
BA PGCE ATCL ALCM ADI
Huw enjoyed a highly musical upbringing, both parents being music
teachers. From an early age he sang and played the piano and French
Horn (ATCL ALCM), later becoming tutor to the Clwyd Youth Orchestra.
He graduated in Music from Liverpool University in 1985, underwent Teacher
Training at Bretton Hall College and then embarked on a career teaching music
in secondary schools.
Throughout his teaching career Huw continued to perform regularly as a singer,
including numerous recordings and radio broadcasts in various choirs and as
soloist, as well as appearing as soloist in the UK, Ireland, Spain, France and
Germany. He was a Lay-Clerk at Chester Cathedral from 1982 - 2000 and is
still a member of the Manchester based professional choir Canzonetta,
Sainsbury's Choir of the Year 1993.
As a conductor, Huw formed the Halton Youth Choir and was for 10 years,
conductor of the Waverton Singers in Chester. Huw first joined Flint Male
Voice Choir as assistant Musical Director in 2000, and, after a brief spell
as MD of the City of Chester Male Voice Choir in 2005, returned to Flint as
Musical Director in January 2006. Until recently he was also the MD of
Liverpool Metropolitan Opera.
He is also the author of two AA Driving School books with a third awaiting publication.
