Simon Buttle - Tenor
Simon is from West Yorkshire and studied at the RNCM for seven years
with Jeffrey Lawton. He has performed the roles of Kaspar (Amahl and
the Night Visitors, Menotti) at the RNCM, Lieutenant Pinkerton
(Madama Butterfly, Puccini) for the Mananan International Festival
Opera, Ruggero (La Rondine, Puccini) and Lensky (Eugene Onegin,
Tchaikovsky) for the RNCM and also Ismael (Nabucco, Verdi) for Hull
Choral Union. He covered the roles of Juan (Arms and the Cow, Weill)
at Opera North, and also Camille and St. Brioche (Merry Widow, Lehar)
for Scottish Opera. He was also in the premiere of Exit (Ni Riain),
a contemporary multi-media music-theatre piece at the RNCM. Simon
is a winner of the Anne Ziegler Award (2005) and was also supported
by The Countess Of Munster Musical Trust during his time at the RNCM.
Oratorio performances include Nelson Mass (Haydn), Symphony No. 2 -
Hymn of Praise (Mendelssohn), Petite Messe Solennelle (Rossini),
The Crucifixion (Stainer), Hiawatha's Wedding Feast (Coleridge-Taylor),
Symphony No. 9 (Beethoven) and Messa di Gloria (Puccini).
