Graham Eccles
Graham first studied organ at Worksop College in Nottinghamshire. He graduated at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, and also achieved the ARCM and FRCO diplomas whilst there. He was Assistant Organist at Chester Cathedral from 1989 to 1998 and as well as full participation in the city’s musical life, he gave recitals countrywide and has played with the Halle and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic orchestras in venues as different as the Albert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl.
He was Organist and Master of the Choristers at St Asaph Cathedral from 1998 to 2003 and at Bangor Cathedral from 2009 to 2013 since when he has been a freelance musician. He teaches organ at Bangor University as well as privately; he is organist of Birkenhead School, was examiner for ABRSM until 2017 and is in great demand as an accompanist. Graham is also one of the regular organists for the BBC Radio 4 Daily Service.
In June 2007 Graham was appointed Music Director of the St Asaph Choral Society and has enjoyed performing many old favourites together with interesting lesser known works as well as commissions. He is also the director of Colwyn Bay and District Choral Society and the two choirs have occasionally joined forces for larger scale works.
