Joining the Choral Society
New members are always welcome! Come and have a sing – no voice tests are necessary! For details, either turn up to a rehearsal (location and times below), contact any of the Committee Members or send an email .
Singing is not just for Christmas 🎅 or for memories of school days! Dust off those vocal cords and have a try!
Dates for your diaries
Return to rehearsals :
Monday September 2nd 2024, Please arrive by 7.00pm for rehearsal from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
Please bring the following scores to rehearsals from September 2024: Elijah – Mendlessehon, The Childhood of Christ – Berlioz and Requiem – Verdi (copies available to hire)
Scores 2024-2025
The Childhood of Christ, Berlioz -14th December 2024 at St Asaph Cathedral. (Additional rehearsal 13th December 2024)
We have a limited number of scores available for hire as it is proving a little tricky to get copies. Any scores hired must have all pencil markings erased prior to their return. We will be using the Novello score.
Messiah, Handel – Saturday 21st December 2024 at Jerusalem Chapel, Bethesda, Gwynedd.
A choral union performance.
Requiem, Verdi – 5th April 2025 – A Choral Union performance (3 choirs) at St Asaph Cathedral.
We will begin rehearsing this piece in September. Copies of this score will be available for hire for a fee (t.b.c). For those purchasing their own copies, Trystan has requested the Ricordi version if possible.
Membership Fees
Since our return following Covid-19, our membership fees have remained the same. The committee have therefore made the difficult but necessary decision to raise the membership fees from September 2024. We appreciate that this increase may cause problems for some members, however there are now more ways to pay including a monthly direct debit option. Paul (treasurer) has outlined the reasons for this decision and created a new payment form (see below). Please contact a member of the committee if this fee increase will prohibit your attendance as we would not want to lose any of our valued members.
Please click here for a copy of the 2024/2025 subscriptions form for download and print. If you don’t have access to a printer, paper copies will be available at rehearsals.
There is now a new gift aid form to complete for all eligible members, which will again provide additional funds for our charity. If we have a Gift Aid form for you from previous years, please complete a new one to make sure we have your details up to date. Thanks.
Please click here for a copy of the Gift Aid form for download and print. As with the subscriptions form, if you don’t have access to a printer, paper copies will be available at rehearsals.
How to Find Us
During term time, rehearsals are held every Monday evening (other than for Christmas and Easter Holidays) from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at:
St Asaph Parish Church, 1 High Street, St Asaph, LL17 0RG
St Asaph Parish is a lovely church – spacious, great acoustics, comfy seating, toilets available, kitchen area. The area used for rehearsing is to the right of the Nave as you look at the photo.
Parking
Unfortunately the Bowling Green car park adjacent to the Parish Church is now pay and display from 8.00am through to 11.00pm. Charges for parking can be found here. Alternatively, for those of you who are able bodied, the car park at the Cathedral can be used. We ask that priority for parking on the streets around the Church should be for Blue Badge holders (who also need to consider local residents by maintaining access, should the Emergency services need to attend in the locality).
